Drink fresh juice for optimal health!

Drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juices is more than a delicious way to start the day. It can increase your energy, give you a glowing complexion, strengthen your immune system and reduce your risk of disease.

Fresh juices supply your body with significant amounts of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Enzymes support thousands of chemical reactions that occur throughout the body. Because they are temperature sensitive, they begin to die at around 48 degrees Celsius, which means all cooked and processed foods are devoid of enzymes. Juices also contain concentrated natural sugars that provide vital energy.

If you are new to juicing, begin with the basic, easier-to-digest vegetables such as carrots, celery, fennel and cucumber. Don't overdo the carrots as these can increase your blood sugar levels. After a week, move onto vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and lettuce. Once your body is used to these, introduce asparagus, spinach, endives, cabbage and herbs such as parsley and coriander. As your body gets more used to juicing, slowly introduce some dark green leafy and bitter vegetables such as kale, wheatgrass, mustard greens and dandelion greens. These can be quite strong, so introduce them slowly and in small amounts.
