Development update

30 Jul 2018

Vicinity Centres, co-owners of Mt Ommaney shopping centre has lodged a development application to redevelop the centre to incorporate a new purpose-built community hub as well as a new entertainment and leisure precinct with a modern, state of the art cinema complex.

The proposed redevelopment contemplates major changes to the existing centre to help meet the needs of the growing community in and around Mt Ommaney – the entertainment and leisure precinct offers a complete lifestyle and dining experience which will be unique to the area.

The development application also proposes the integration of the existing council library into the centre and the creation of a new purpose-built community hub that will replace the aging community building on Dandenong Rd.

The development will also include an improved bus interchange and an increase in the free parking options available at the centre, further positioning Mt Ommaney as a true community focal point.

For 35 years Mt Ommaney has served the community and we know that the community is looking forward to an improved, modern centre.

We will continue to share more about our plans for Mt Ommaney and will keep our local community and stakeholders updated throughout the process.

The development application will be considered by the Brisbane City Council in coming months and remain subject to several pre-conditions including investment approvals from our co-owners and Board.
