NAIDOC Week 2024

This year, NAIDOC Week runs 07 – 14 July. This is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme is “Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud”. Honouring the strength and vitality of First Nations culture, fire is a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

To commemorate NAIDOC Week 2024, we are thrilled to have collaborated once again with Indigenous female artist, Zowie Baumgart.

Zowie is a self-taught contemporary Aboriginal artist from the Kombumerri and Butchulla tribes. Her work represents both her mother’s clan and father’s clan. Her artistic style combines that of the past and present to connect viewers with open dialogue in relation to the history and future of Australia’s First Nation’s People.

You can view Zowie’s artwork outside Coles, on posters and signage throughout the centre.
